According to an email I received from Power To Decide (formerly The National Campaign To Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy), it’s time for us to all call our senators about saving vital Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Programs and Title X.
“There is a chance, according to recent news reports, that the full Senate may soon consider their Labor, Health and Human Services (LHHS) appropriations bill. While this is tentative, it is never too early for constituents to ensure their Senators know that the TPP Program and Title X are a top priority. Remember, the Senate is in recess next week and Senators are scheduled to be at home.”
Here’s a simple script they provided for when we call:

  • “Please support level funding of $101 million for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program for Fiscal Year (FY) 2019, along with current legislative language to ensure the program is administered in the same evidence-based manner as it was in the past, as the bi-partisan LHHS bill passed by the Senate Appropriations Committee did.”
  • “Please support level funding of $286.5 for the Title X Family Planning Program for FY 2019, as the bi-partisan LHHS bill passed by the Senate Appropriations Committee did. Also, ensure Title X is administered in the same manner as it was in 2016.”

If you don’t have your senators’ phone numbers, you can find them here.  Open the link and click on your state.  And thank you for any help you provide to keep these vital programs alive.
